Phaser Backers Code Bundle - November & December 2019
Greetings everyone!
I'm very pleased to announce that the Backers Code Bundle for both November and December 2019 is now available to download :)
As with the last bundle, I'm now using the Dropbox Transfer service. To grab the goodies, click here and then enter the password: PvnBdpucvEfMZKQeTd7w
If you've never downloaded a bundle before, just unzip it locally and then you can either use 'npm install' and 'npm run start' in the folder. Or if you have your own local web server, just unzip it into the webroot and browse to the public folder.
I've updated the index page with this release. Now with over a years worth of content, it was getting hard to remember which files could be found in which month, so I've added a small textual overview of the folder contents to the interface, which should make it quicker to navigate.
This pack contains no less than 58 brand new examples all focused on Matter Physics. As you may have read in my previous dev report, I've been working really hard on improving and finishing off Matter Physics support in Phaser 3. This has resulted in a lot of updates! Check out the Change Log for an idea of just how many :) and of course I wanted to show off the new features and help explain some of the more esoteric sides to the Matter Physics library. Hence, the Matter Mega Pack. There are all kinds of content, from demonstrating spring types, to new body alignment features, to physics game controls and the cool new intersection tests. I tried to cover as many bases as possible.
Also included is the new Physics Body Tracer app. This was a lot of hard work but I feel is the start of something really neat. You can load any image and then it will scan it and create a physics body from the outline, with sliders for simplifying and alpha thresholds, and the ability to preview the body in realtime. Of course, you can export the JSON and there are examples showing how to load the new json files too. The app is also a really nice demonstration of how to mix Phaser with a responsive HTML UI over the top.
Nearly all of the demos require Phaser 3.22 to work. This is included in the build folder, so you don't need to do anything, but if you do try to use the code in your own project be sure to grab a build from the master branch first. I'm nearly ready to publish Phaser 3.22 and it will be out next week, all being well, then I will return to Phaser 4 work.
Sorry that these bundles took so long to arrive. That's the downside of creating bundles tied to an unstable API! Thankfully, though, we've got a cracking 3.22 release imminent and you've got loads and loads of nice demos to play with too!
One final thing - welcome to all of the new backers who have joined in January! It's great to have you here. If anyone would like to start booking support sessions with me in the coming months, now is a good time to do so.
Until the next post - stay frosty :)
