A mini Phaser Update + I'm looking to hire a Laravel dev

Published on 22nd September 2021

Hey everyone,

As I mentioned in the previous epic Dev Log (please read it, if you haven't done so) I said I would start work on Phaser 3.60 this week - and that is exactly what has happened. I've been merging Pull Requests and closing issues left, right and center. 3.60 is shaping up to be a nice release indeed. You can follow all progress on GitHub, especially if there are some fixes in there you want to try early.

Someone asked me when it will be ready. It's a bit too early to tell yet, but based on progress so far I expect to release 3.60 mid to late October.

While I've been working on v3 during the day, I've also been working on v4 in the evenings. I've been tidying up various type errors that were preventing it from building the TypeScript defs, which in itself prevented me from being able to release onto npm. This work is finally done.

I'm pleased to say that v0.2.0 is available right now on npm. This is a full build including TS defs and even a UMD bundle. I did, however, exclude the 3D modules, because they haven't been updated to the new ECS system yet. However, everything else is in there if you want to get playing. Use the examples repo for some inspiration.

Hiring a Laravel Freelancer

I really want to get the Phaser site upgraded from Laravel 4 to Laravel 8 (or whatever the most recent release is!). I don't want to recode it any more than needed to run under the new version, but I really want to get this work done asap.

So, if you're a freelance Laravel developer and fancy taking this challenge on, please email me (rdavey@gmail.com) with a brief portfolio (or CV) and your day rate. I want to get moving on this right away, so the sooner you can start, the better.
