Amazon Prime Gaming is Amazon's gaming platform. It features free games, various benefits and extras for your Twitch account, and daily challenges in a set of small but addicting puzzle games. And one of them, Topsoil, is made with Phaser.
Topsoil is an interesting puzzle game that adds an interesting layer to familiar grid-based puzzle gameplay.
Things start out simple enough. In each daily challenge, you have to meet two objectives, such as harvesting a certain number of a certain plant or getting a certain number of combo harvests (a combo is when the multiples of the same type of plant are next to each other on the grid and are harvested).
To make things more difficult, every time you harvest something, a layer of soil is removed, creating depth (both figuratively and literally). To get a combo, plants have to be next to each other and on the same layer of soil.
And did I mention that the number of moves is limited as well?
It all makes for a game that invites you to get clever and optimize things as much as possible.
In addition to the daily challenges, you can also access the past challenges.
Topsoil is an excellent example of a game that creates a compelling set of rules and then keeps on challenging you with them. If you have Amazon Prime, be sure to check out Topsoil
