Everyone at Phaser believes in the web platform and its ability to reach the masses on virtually every platform. From the web to mobile to desktop and everything in between, Phaser developers enjoy the unique ability to distribute their web games everywhere.

Recently, another platform has opened up its ecosystem to all developers: Discord! Discord is the most popular group chat platform, focused on providing spaces for friends to come together, hang out, and game. Over 200 million people use it per month, and 90% of them play games, access music experiences, and engage in other interactive activities.

Their platform was “built by people who love to play games, for people who love to play games,” so it’s no surprise to see them expand their gaming capabilities with Discord Activities—multiplayer games and social experiences that can be launched in Discord. This is a great platform to bring Phaser games to because, under the hood, Activities are single-page web apps hosted in an iframe. Excellent.

You can deploy your Phaser game to Discord and then integrate Discord features like user identity, voice and chat, profile data like Rich Presence, and native monetization. To help you get started, we’ve created two tutorials: an introduction to creating Discord games with Phaser and a multiplayer game guide. Both include project templates as starting points for creating Discord games with Phaser. We’re also creating developer tooling to make life easier for developers wanting to publish and test Discord Activities. Be sure to follow us on X, LinkedIn, or (of course!) Discord to be notified when we launch.
